Dear Jennifer,
Undoubtedly, you've heard of the ENERGY STAR designation. Whether in
the context of appliance shopping or recent Earth Day activities, there
are many buzz words surrounding our country's quest to "go
green". So, what exactly is ENERGY STAR and why is it important? |
|
|
ENERGY STAR is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection
Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy helping to save money and
protect the environment through energy efficient products and
practices. The importance of an ENERGY STAR designation is directly
related to a product's efficiency. Air conditioning equipment is rated
by the Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio, or SEER. The higher the SEER
rating, the more efficient the unit. Air conditioning systems that are
in the top 25% of efficient models may carry the ENERGY STAR label.
Most
ENERGY STAR rated products are eligible for financial incentives,
including rebates and tax credits. Because of their efficiency, these
products also save money on utility bills in the long run. Together
with statewide energy efficiency programs, like California's Flex Your
Power campaign, there are a variety of savings options that make
installing a new ENERGY STAR rated system a smart and positive change.
Contact Mauzy at 619-583-9545 or 858-674-4867
to discuss how you can incorporate ENERGY STAR components throughout
your home or office. You'll help the environment and your bottom line
at the same time. |
